Evolution represses

Post by pyewakt » Sat 04 Jul, 2020 1:22 pm

Hi, not been on here for a long, long time.

Got very excited to see the transmissions box, but I was really only missing the blood music mixes.

Anyway, you have probably all seen the music on vinyl presses. There are now evolution presses coming and advertised on phonica: https://www.phonicarecords.com/label/ev ... atest/desc

Hello good sir.

These appear to be the same reissues that Warp/Evolution are putting out in a month or two.
You got me very excited there for a moment, as if there was a chance of reissuing/remastering the Global's mix of The Biosphere.
That track is my favorite piece of music in an electronic(a) genre - I'll keep waiting

Hope you're well, and may I ask, where does the name Pyewakt herald from?

Ha! The name comes from the spooky cat in Bell Book and Candle which is a Christmas film with the same stars as Vertigo, Kim Novak and Jimmy Stewart.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bell,_Book_and_Candle

For the biosphere repress I have no idea. But I'm pretty sure I have two copies. I can have a look. Where are you based? I think postage to the us from the UK is no longer viable.

But I'm friends with Mark on Facebook and he hinted the jungle records he did on recoil records would be getting done. They are classic!

Hello.

I'm over in the states, but I thank you very much for the consideration.

I've actually seen Bell, Book & Candle many times (one of my wife's favorites), but I had no idea of the name..

I have a couple of copies of The Biosphere here, but it's screaming for a polish and a re-release - if every there was a record to be reissued...

Anyhoo, thanks again, and I hope you guys are all keeping safe.

Those are the same as come in the boxset, but as standalones.
(The Singles/Remixes/Bonus Tracks Vinyl/CD will only come in the boxset)...

The Biosphere (GC remix) was remastered in 2005, so I think Mark wanted to add something new to the "bonuses" on this release, that hadn't gotten the remaster previously, and was true to "their sound" without sounding "dated" Also, The Biosphere remix might be apart of the Short Stories expanded edition, as it was originally on the Autoreload II Single/EP from that album/era.. - if and when that ever happens (he says it's in the works)

As for the bonuses that ARE on Transmissions... Keongaku, The Way, The Deep and Aspirin had to be on there, really.
so that leaves only so much room for other tracks.

I'm Eager to hear the Lone Remix/Cover of Maiden Voyage. I love his work. and pysched for a new version.
On CD (and DL for vinyl purchases) are the Long Lost Original Version of 7:39.

That Makes for 78:30 on CD

Wondering what would be everyone's IDEAL Bonus CD if you could curate it.
Rules:
1) 79:00 Max
2) Only "Global Communication" Remixes or Releases...

Nice idea, Hayhook - a lot of fun!

I have to say, though, I was a wee bit disappointed in seeing The Way/The Deep, Aspirin, Sublime Creation & Incidental Harmony - yet again, making an appearance on the upcoming box set, but maybe some other time..

Here's my '72:18' wishlist for a perfect Global Communication tracklist:

Reload - The Biosphere (Global Communication Remix) '9:01'
Lamb - Gorecki (Global Communication Remix) '9:48'
Warp 69 - Natural High - (Global Communication Remix) '9:04'
Link - Arcadian (Global Communication Remix) '9:29'
Softballet - Ride (Global Communication Dub Mix) - even though it's a Reload remix! '7:19'
John Anderson - Amor Real (Global Communication Remix) '8:58'
Azymuth - Jazz Carnival - (Global Communication Space Jazz Mix) '11:15'
John Anderson - Bless This (Global Communication Remix) '7:24'

A revamped Remotion would definitely be nice...
And IF The Biosphere (GC Remix) were to appear on the Short Stories Reissue then...

Natural High (Global Communication Re-Take) - Warp 69 9:04
Rollercoaster (The Global Communication Yellow Submarine Re-Take) - The Grid 8:18
Arcadian (Global Communication Remix) - Link 9:32
Wild Horse (Global Mix Communication) - Nav Katze 15:15
Bless This (Global Communication Mix) - Jon Anderson 7:21
Amor Real (Global Communication Mix) - Jon Anderson 8:59
Ride (Global Communication Dub Mix) - Soft Ballet 7:19
Aspirin (Global Communication Remix) - Sensorama 12:57

that clocks in at 78:43 and makes a rather cohesive "album" - maybe tweak the order a touch...
This just leaves out the "uptempo" remixes (which I have the lamb and recent azymuth reissue on vinyl already) Evolution of the Beast Part 2, and Civil War Correspondent (which I would only want if a "dub" version without vocals was avail...)

One would seriously have to include the Crazy Dream 313 mix on a Reload comp - I don't know why that record isn't heralded in everyone's top techno of all time - it still sounds on it's own even now..

Here's my take on your tracklist:

Aspirin (Global Communication Remix) - Sensorama 12:57
Ride (Global Communication Dub Mix) - Soft Ballet 7:19
Natural High (Global Communication Re-Take) - Warp 69 9:04
Amor Real (Global Communication Mix) - Jon Anderson 8:59
Bless This (Global Communication Mix) - Jon Anderson 7:21
Rollercoaster (The Global Communication Yellow Submarine Re-Take) - The Grid 8:18
Arcadian (Global Communication Remix) - Link 9:32
Wild Horse (Global Mix Communication) - Nav Katze 15:15

Stay Safe!
