So blasphemy then? ;)

I have to say the originals are by far my favourites, but then it's all a personal choice eh?

Seriously, that's blasphemy though.

Steve Soles: nice to see the ladies around here too
:o

uh oh...maybe I should have joined this forum with a non-female name...
although if I'm taken seriously then I guess that doesn't matter :)

Yeah I know, and I actually have a hard time deciding between the original and Secret Ingredients mix.

Suz:although if I'm taken seriously then I guess that doesn't matter
all that matters is that everyone has heaps & heaps of fun around here
Chuck Cogan:blasphemy!!, blasphemy!!...blasphemy!! i say blasphemy!!!
it is!! no question about it, and it's got nout to do with personal opinion either. it's like everyone agrees that there are certain goals scored throughout time, that everyone regards as being the best - same here with music.

I rest my case.

my vote goes to secret ingredients mix for best the way mix.

and off the top of my head best deep house track ever.

but i am a big fan of the orb's close encounters off of u.f.orb also.

tough call.

Hi guys

Could one of you be so kind as to upload samples of the Deep Dish and Joshua mixes. I'm curious to hear them and join in the debate (I have already trawled through many pages on the web but alas no samples).

ta in advance!

You can hear all the mixes (I think) on Last FM:

Enjoy!

high eight thanks for the link - very useful! :D

I prefer The Way (Secret Ingredients mix).

My reasons are below...got a headache so apologies if my comments sound a bit feverish...

1 The Way (Secret Ingredients mix)
The vocal in the beat together with main vocal sample is uplifting and creates build-up/tension. This track taps into my emotions much more than the others and makes me feel like dancing (but have to make do with tapping my feet for now!).

2 The Deep (original mix)
Like the tension in this track but it has a different mood compared to The Way (Secret Ingredients mix) and it lacks soul (it's a bit harsh).

3 The Deep (Deep Dish Pump mix)
Good rhythm but a bit bland and lifeless compared to The Way (Secret Ingredients mix). Sounds like a filler track and left waiting for next track to kick in.

4 The Way (original mix)
Like this version but compared to the Secret Ingredients mix it's a bit nuyorican soulful and laid back.

5 The Way (Davidson Ospina mix)
Almost as good as Secret Ingredients mix but too energetic and urgent. Seems to be on one level and also the guitar riff sound (?) makes it a bit light-hearted. It's the sort of track that taps into drunk minds and makes people do a silly dance - not that there's anyhing wrong with silly dances but I feel the Secret Ingredients mix is taken seriously but in a euphoric way.

6 The Way (Joshua's Dubwise mix)
Like this. Includes the nice vocal but it's too repetitive and compared to the Secret Ingredients mix the tempo feels sluggish.

Although I may have got this completely wrong, since I have only heard samples of tracks 2–6 !

You know The Way and The Deep were two different tracks right?

Yep
and thought is was worth comparing them as I prefer The Way over The Deep

see earlier post:
Steve Soles: and why does 'The Deep' always come second to 'The Way'; it's just as good IMHO IMHO IMHO.....
I take it there's no other versions of The Deep?
I was a bit confused about the Deep Dish mix though as this wasn't on last.fm :?

Suz: 2 The Deep (original mix)
Like the tension in this track but it has a different mood compared to Secret Ingredients mix and it lacks soul (it's a bit harsh).
You need to hear this record in full (and very loud) to see why it's utterly brilliant; and then, and only then, shall you believe.
