So disappointed with the new U-ziq album. Struggled with Billious Paths but had read encouraging bits and bobs about this one.... it's mostly an inpenetrable dirge with virtually none of the melodic hooks which made his earlier output so good.
er, so that's a 'no' to picking it up really.

Re: new ziq...
I didn't even know there was a new one out. After hearing the clips it dosen't sound promising.
Boomkat clips here.
I have often wondered if stuff is put out because :
A) The artist geniunely believes that it's what they are feeling at the time.
B) The artist wants to release art whank for art whank sake and become "cool man"
C)They have contractual agreements.
Having always liked Mike P's stuff before, I'll go with A.

I vote A too.... I recently picked up his Meast compilation, released as Kid Spatula. It's a collection of unreleased U-Ziq tracks he's recorded over the years. Some tracks sound a little unfinished, like half-formed ideas, but there's some real gems on there too.
The new album, from the artwork to the track-listing to the music, has the feel of a concept album. It's very dark.
Still, he's released enough quality to be indulged a little.
