acidhouseanime!!!!!

Post by thewalker » Sun 01 Apr, 2007 7:13 am

thats right, you heard me.

ACIDHOUSE ANIME.

i have just finished watching the entire series of Eureka Seven, and apart from being one of the best constructed and gently observed tv series i have ever seen (its so good getting to the last episode and knowing that the whole thing was planned out properly, like a good novel or comic, not one of those tv series that either ends too early and has to wrap up quickly of drags on too damn long just because it got good ratings.

anyway, why do you care....?? !! ?? !!

this series is chock full of house music references.

the good mecha are called KLF, the good Mecha LFO, 303, 707, 808 etc...

episode titles include Blue Monday, Pacific State,Higher than the sun, and for the trippiest episodes ACPERIENCE 1-4

the hero is Renton (trainspoting) whose father is Adrock, who saved the world during a mysterious event called the Summer Of Love.

One military base is called FAC 51 and another Tresor

i couldnt make this up....

indeed he is,

and there are lots more references in there for the casual and trainspotter alike.

and it does drift a little from house culture, but thats where most of the references seem to originate....

over on barbelith.....

which is another place where you can trust peoples opinions more than normal,

i should mention that i am not a manga/anime fan inparticular, i love yer akira and ghost in the shell as much as the nextman, and do have more than a fondness towards miyazaki's films, but other than that i couldnt tell your dragon ball from your naruto..... Eureka Seven stands alone, to me, in its quality.
