Hi!
It's all in the filters man.
There's actually a few ways of doing the stabs, but if you want to get really into the deep Basic Channel sound, I recommend the following:
1, pick a chord with a sound with a strong attack (something like a heavy sound from the Mailstrum...something that has a strong, sharp sound as soon as you press the key)
2, apply loads (and I mean loads) of reverb, so you get a massive long tail at the end of the sound
3, select the range in Reason starting from right at the beginning of the reverb, you must have the reverb
4, save & convert the selected region to a wav
5, open up NNXT or whatever sampler you have, and select the wav
6, sample the reverb now - preferably the part with the most amount of reverb - just sample the strongest part - about two seconds worth should do the trick
7, now all you have to do is apply your new sample to a filter, make sure you have also applied some 'less attack', to get a nice soft intro
8, apply some new reverb and some delay and start filtering....
9, you're done!
I've been doing tons of these and I'm having a blast....you can get some serious deep, beautifull techno/deep house going on. I hope this helps.
