Excursions 1 - digital release

Post by jedi4q2 » Fri 07 Sep, 2007 4:04 am

besides bleep and itunes, several sites have pre-order pages up for the EP, which they list as available 9/9.

http://www.7digital.com/artists/tom-mid ... ursions-1/

http://playlouder.com/downloads/release ... -1-file-2/

even a Japanese site for the 12" http://www.technique.co.jp/gaze/nitty-g ... 4?id=38860

At the risk of sounding like a bit of a moaner, is anyone else feeling a little peeved about the way Excursions 1 is being released? I pre-ordered the EP from 7Digital, and downloaded it (all fine - and very reasonable at £1.79, I might add) - this was clearly a mistake, but patience was never my strong suit!

Then discovered that the only way you can then obtain Lament from iTunes is by purchasing the whole EP again from iTunes at a whopping £4.74 (the three EP tracks are 79p each, and then for some reason there is a relatively large price hike to purchase the whole thing - equating to £2.37 just to get Lament, which is to all intents and purposes a remix of an old GC track).

Presumably when the thing goes live on Bleep, we will then be expected to purchase the whole thing again in order to obtain Larynx, which I am assuming is an update of the Rebus Project track of the same name that was originally released on "The Theory of Evolution".

If, as I suspect many on the list intend to, you then factor in purchasing the vinyl as well (which I am assuming will be around £5-£6), then ladies and gentlemen, if you wish to get all of the tracks on the EP, you will be looking at somewhere around £12-£14 depending on how much Bleep charges.

I feel a little exploited, I must admit!

I'm with Edlad - it's a bit of a rip off, but I'll still be buying them all!
I've got the iTunes release and Lament is the same as the version that was recorded at the Big Chill festival a while back, complete with the choir and cheering at the end. It's nice, but I think I still prefer the version from 76.14, so probably not worth the extra £2.37 unless you're a completist! Double bummer for me as I already had it ripped out of a radio show!
I don't think bleep are in the habit of forcing you to buy whole EPs so we might be in luck when they get it up.

anyone know when the bleep version is going up? seems like every other download site in the UK has it already, except them!

BTW - the Track Yearning is available on iTunes on the compilation The Chillout Lounge although they mistakenly listed it as by "Amber" durrrr!

yeah, it's bullshit. I guess they'd rather have pissed off fans who stand in line to throw money at them than have no fans at all.
Oh, well....

Has the EP gone on ITunes yet? I have searched for Tom Middleton but can't see it.

Any advice for an idiot would be warmly welcomed. Desperate to get hold of it before departing for holidays.

I now have it... thanks again.
Just out of interest - probably only my interest - but I wonder what Mr Pritchard thinks about Tom releasing a version of Obselon Mi Nos under a different title, under his own name?

anyone able to hook up a sad U.S. bloke with the UK Itunes only, Lament?
Says I am not allowed to purchase the album as I am from the U.S.
I will buy it from Bleep when it comes up, but am unable to get Lament through "legit" means.

Thanks for your help. drop me a PM

Sure is nice to finally have 'Shinkansen' in high quality, though. What a great track....
