Re: New track...feedback appreciated thread
It's absolutely crying out for for some really lush chords man, and like a really nice flute line after the second breakdown.
Production wise, sounds pretty cool!
I like it!
It's been SOOO long since I've done a tune.
I miss it really bad.
Your shit blows mine out the water.

Re: New track...feedback appreciated thread
do you mean string chords or just some rhodes type chords?Steve Sole wrote:It's absolutely crying out for for some really lush chords man, and like a really nice flute line after the second breakdown.
but i dont think a flute would fit the overall sound of the tune, atleast not to how i want it to sound hehe

hmm....dont know hahahaSteve Sole wrote:...how do you get everything sounding so tight?
what exactly are you referring to when you say tight, the rhythm or like the whole soundimage?

Hey Chuck, I really liked this one, it has a very nice UR kinda thing going on. That little bleepy synth thing that starts around 1:35 in particular is brilliant. Can I do a remix of this? All I'd need is a basic midi file, c'mon, please?

...I just mean like some really nice deep pads. I think that would really elevate the track..
Also, I'm talking about the whole track sounding really tight - compressors etc? What and how do you utilise?
I had another couple of listens again tonight - it's a nice track, Chuck.

Re: New track...feedback appreciated thread
well first of i use an MClass Equalizer on sounds rolling of the bass thats not neededSteve Sole wrote:Also, I'm talking about the whole track sounding really tight - compressors etc? What and how do you utilise?
that way the track dont get that "Muddy" feeling so easily
usually this is the settings i go for, unless there is little bass on the sound to begin with

then on the drums u usually go for a whole chain of MClass's
Equalizer, Stereo Imager, Compressor & Maximizer
on this track i used 2 Compressors hehehe
and each sound my get a compressor aswell...depends on the sound i guess
and in the end chain i usually use the Reason 4 Defualt Mastering Suite settings, just to beef up the sound some more, might do some tweakings on the settings, but not much usually
oh and not to forget i try to pan the sounds abit from the center
just to make some more way for the bass and kick that i always leave in the center
and dont forget that the Scream is your friend when you want some warmth and/or crispiness
to your sounds its not just a Distortion unit

hope that helps some

i can see if i can fix a whole remix package later this weekUpaka wrote:Hey Chuck, I really liked this one, it has a very nice UR kinda thing going on. Really, that's funny, I instantly thought that when I heard it, the chords and the panning on the little sequence I mentioned sound very Mad Mike/Gerald Mitchell in their more housey tracks. Looking forward to remixing it, hope you don't mind some acid in your house, heh.chuckcogan wrote:

Re: New track...feedback appreciated thread
It doesn't remind me of UR, but it is kind of tecky!!
Thanks for the tips, Mr. Chuck.
It'd me nice to get some really sound ones from the Mark. P. I've got about a zillion questions I'd like to ask him.
Anyway, thanks again, Chuck.

Re: New track...feedback appreciated thread

Stick it under production q & a and above archive. Then each track can be it's own post?chuckcogan wrote:well thats something Ben would have to decide....although we could move it to "Production Q&A"darlo wrote:Instead of a sticky why not have It's own forum then it would be neater?

Re: New track...feedback appreciated thread
Hmmm, I'm not sure if I like how Soundcloud automatically reencodes all mp3s to 128 kbps, I think it kills my reverbs a bit. Oh well, shouldn't complain, it is free after all. Just a spacy little acid track I finished, and I was wondering if it came out a bit too quiet. Dialed it back a bit in the mixdown, and I might have my levels a bit too low. Any thoughts?
Hey, nice code Chuck!
