Just curious Tom and Mark, but where did the original Global logo originate from (I've lovingly recreated it for my avatar)?

As a graphic designer myself I've always been interested in the artwork (and the music!)

How come you both don't seem to use it much these days (although it's on Toms 'Sound of the Cosmos' cover)?

but i do remember most of the artwork for early reload/evo & global stuff was designed by tom on our dining table, i seem to remember sheets of a4 paper everywhere round the house with rough drawings of the logos lying round for months then one sunday afternoon tom bringing back the finished vinyl.. i also remember, again very hazy, tom taking a photo of my oldest sons ear to use for some global release.

actually, i don't think the photo was used, although my son did get a name check on cover..

Not sure where the original evolution log came from (see above) but the one on your avatar was, i think, redone by Prototype 21. I am almost certainly wrong however...

Hello Guest - yeah you could be right as the earlier versions were a bit different. Prototype 21 possibly had something to do with it...but I think they were using it before then?

Us designers are into cool music indeed!!

Anyway I prefer Richies avatar although it always makes me feel hungry!

The original evolution logo had more elipsoid 'stripes' where as the P21 logo (as in your avatar) has more lozenge shaped ones...

I am sad.

And as I only have a couple of original evolution releases, I could be wrong...

Note also the yellow hue of the original logo as opposed to the orange of the later one. Also, circular black wall thicknesses of both logos appear to be different.
My favourite number is 87.3

There's a feature on prototype 21 (who now goes by the name of terratag) in issue#4 of http://www.multilinkmagazine.com it's not out yet but should be up on the site in a week or so.
